5. Odd Future Tape Vol. 2
This album
goes by the genre of hip-hop and others. One of the most newest releases from
the hip-hop collective ‘OFWGKTA’ also known as ‘Odd Future’ for short. It’s a
collection of songs from each of the members within the crew, some collaborated
and some worked alone on their tracks. ‘Sam is Dead’, ‘Analog 2’ and ‘Oldie’
are my favorites. This album has 4 different album covers, hence the picture
above.
4. Around The Fur
‘Around the
Fur’ by Deftones, this album goes by the genre of alternative rock. I stumbled
onto the Deftones’ music one day in Singapore while I was searching youtube for
some trashy Dubstep music. There was a Bar-9 remix of a Deftones song and as
soon as I heard it I searched the Internet to hear some of their original work.
Soon enough I downloaded 3 albums and this album came on top as my favorite,
interesting cover and interesting music. Deftones’ music is not something you’d
hear on the radio or MTv, don’t expect them to have millions of views on
youtube either.
3. Champ
‘Champ’ by
Tokyo Police Club, this album goes by the genre of Indie Rock. A friend of mine
introduced me to them when he sent me a link to their song ‘Bambi’, which is
still one of my favorite songs. I instantly downloaded their album and listened
to it almost nonstop for a whole week.
2. Young the Giant
‘Young the
Giant’ is the name of the album and the band that made it; this album goes by
the genre of Alternative. I found out about these guys while I was watching the
2011 MTv VMA’s where they performed live. They had an interesting vibe to their
music and quite the passion as they performed live so I checked them out and
downloaded their album and listened to it for quite some time. Sometimes I play
their music just to calm myself as if their music is some kind of remedy or
when I go to bed, it’s impossible to have a nightmare with their music playing
and only good dreams can come out of listening to them whilst going to bed.
5. Bastard
‘Bastard’
by Tyler, the Creator, this album goes by the genre hip-hop/alternative. I
found out about this guy from the 2011 MTv VMA’s and his first hit single
‘Yonkers’. He was 18 when he dropped his first album ‘Bastard’ in 2009. This
album is about a angry teenager just being angry and dark, letting out his
thoughts, which are quite relatable. Listening to this album with headphones
while being tired makes this album play out as a movie in your imagination.
Tyler, the Creator is somewhat a role model to me, I idolize his views of the
world and its problems. Number one album and number one artist of all time to
me.
Hipster
music, waka waka.
